The III Regional Summit of Methane consolidated a space for strategic cooperation in Brasília for the energy systems of Latin America and the Caribbean. The gathering brought together representatives from national and subnational governments, international organizations, corporations, research centers, civil society organizations, and financial entities to share experiences and strengthen regional action against methane emissions.

This third edition followed up on the process initiated in Colombia and Peru, marking a new stage for the regional agenda. After several years dedicated to gathering information, developing diagnoses, sharing best practices, and building capacities, the challenge now lies in turning that knowledge into public policies, investments, and mitigation measures that can be implemented and sustained over time.

Discussions were organized around three complementary dimensions: building capacities and institutions to create the conditions for action, measuring with reliable information to guide decisions, and scaling solutions capable of delivering concrete results.

The agenda also expanded its sectoral scope. Although oil and gas maintained a priority role, the Summit incorporated emissions associated with coal mining, waste management, biogas, biomethane, and hydroelectric generation.
