The most important methane event in the region.

A high-level event convened by OEMLAC

This event is organised by the Latin America and the Caribbean Methane Emissions Observatory (OEMLAC) of the Latin American and Caribbean Energy Organisation (OLACDE), in collaboration with a range of regional and global partner organisations.

It is a multisectoral forum bringing together governments, international organisations, the private sector, civil society and academia to address the challenges and opportunities for reducing methane emissions in the energy sector across the region.

The III Regional Methane Summit, to be held in 2026, will take place in a context of growing global attention to methane emissions and new regulatory and market requirements reshaping the energy sector. The event will aim to strengthen regional cooperation and advance solutions for methane management and mitigation across the energy system in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Building on the strong interest generated in previous editions, with more than 220 in-person participants and over 600 online views, the upcoming summit is expected to further expand this regional platform for dialogue, led by the Latin American and Caribbean Methane Emissions Observatory (OEMLAC) of the Latin American and Caribbean Energy Organization (OLACDE) together with international partners.

2026 Edition

Looking ahead to its third edition in 2026, the Regional Methane Summit aims to consolidate itself as a key platform for dialogue and cooperation in Latin America and the Caribbean to advance methane emissions mitigation across the energy system. The event will promote the exchange of experiences, the strengthening of institutional capacities, and the adoption of technological and transparency solutions that support a more efficient and sustainable management of methane emissions in a context of increasing international regulatory and market requirements.
