For years, methane has been primarily addressed as an emissions source that needed to be reduced or controlled. However, new technologies and management approaches are driving a broader vision that recognizes its potential as a source of energy, environmental, and economic value.
In this context, a key question emerges for Latin America and the Caribbean: what conditions are needed to transform emissions traditionally considered an environmental liability into resources that can support new energy strategies?
The session will bring together experiences related to emissions monitoring, energy recovery through biogas and biomethane, and certification and sustainability mechanisms. Through these cases, the panel will analyze how mitigation, traceability, and energy valorization can be connected.
The discussion aims to provide a practical perspective on how to close the methane circle, moving from emissions detection and management toward solutions capable of recovering value and generating new opportunities for the regional energy transition.
