Session

Satellite-Based Methane Detection and Mitigation: Practical Training for Decision-Makers

Session information

This session, organized by the International Methane Emissions Observatory (IMEO) of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), aims to strengthen technical capacities in the detection, quantification, and management of methane emissions.

The training will focus on the use of satellite data and analytical platforms—including the Methane Alert and Response System (MARS) and the Eye on Methane platform—as inputs for operational and regulatory decision-making. It will cover remote sensing methodologies, data interpretation, and detection response protocols, along with measurement-based reporting approaches adapted to the regional context.

The event will bring together stakeholders from the public and private sectors, as well as technical experts, to promote knowledge exchange, harmonize approaches, and strengthen institutional capacities. Prior registration is required.
