
A native of Belo Horizonte, Alexandre Silveira de Oliveira is 55 years old. He holds a law degree and is a civil servant who passed the competitive examination for police delegate in Minas Gerais, having retired as chief delegate.
He was General Coordinator of the 6th Terrestrial Infrastructure Unit of DNIT in 2003 and Director-General of the National Department of Transport Infrastructure (DNIT) in 2004 and 2005.
He is a former federal deputy for two terms, elected in 2006 and 2010 among the five most voted in the state.
He was Secretary of State for Metropolitan Management (2011 to 2013) and Secretary of Health in Minas Gerais in 2014.
Also in 2014, Alexandre Silveira was elected 1st Alternate Senator, on the ticket headed by the former governor of Minas Gerais, Antonio Anastasia.
He served as Legal Director to the Presidency of the Federal Senate between 2021 and 2022.
In February 2022, Alexandre Silveira took office as a Senator of the Republic.
On January 2, 2023, he assumed command of the Ministry of Mines and Energy.
