Elga Patricia Pabón P. is a Chemical Engineer with more than 18 years of experience at Ecopetrol. She is currently part of the Energy Transition team within the Exploration, Development and Production Vice Presidency, where she leads the integrated methane emissions management strategy for the upstream segment. Her work is aligned with the United Nations Oil & Gas Methane Partnership (OGMP 2.0) framework, current Colombian regulations, and Ecopetrol’s corporate decarbonization and energy transition strategy.

Over the past six years, she has led the implementation of advanced methane emissions measurement, quantification, and management programs, including both bottom-up and top-down approaches aimed at reconciling the corporate emissions inventory and identifying material emission sources. Her work has enabled the prioritization and implementation of cost-effective emissions reduction initiatives, contributing to efficient gas management, methane emissions reduction, and the elimination of routine flaring, in line with Ecopetrol’s strategic objectives.

She has extensive experience in process safety, gas plant operations and optimization, as well as the development of strategic efficiency and emissions reduction projects in the upstream sector. She holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from the Industrial University of Santander, a specialization in Gas Engineering, a PMP® certification in Project Management, and a Process Safety Auditor certification from DuPont.
