
Khalid Salmi is a Senior Expert in Sustainable Energy Management at the Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE). He holds a degree in Mechanical Energy Engineering and a Master’s in Renewable Energy Engineering. Since joining RCREEE in 2014, he has led the center’s work on sustainable energy standardization and certification, as well as the development of its green hydrogen portfolio.
Currently, Khalid is the Project Manager of the regional initiative “Bending the Methane Curve in the MENA Region,” where he leads efforts to assess methane emissions, identify mitigation opportunities, and support the development of targeted policies aligned with global climate commitments.
With over 12 years of professional experience, Khalid has managed and coordinated numerous regional and international projects in partnership with Arab governments, international organizations, development banks, and UN agencies. His work focuses on advancing renewable energy, energy efficiency, and emerging solutions such as green hydrogen and Power-to-X (PtX), supporting countries in addressing energy, economic, and environmental challenges.
He is committed to promoting sustainable development through the deployment of green technologies, robust standards, and effective policy frameworks across the region.
